As with any painted cladding if the surface is well prepared, painted and maintained then re-painting is only required every 10 to 12 years.
Using dark paint colours on any surface can generate excessive heat causing damage to the paint and the material below. To safeguard against this Envira weatherboards must be painted with a 45+ light reflectance value (LRV) rating.
The LRV of a colour indicates the amount of light and heat that a colour will reflect. Black has a reflectance value of almost 0% and absorbs almost all light and heat. The surfaces are consequently very dark and can get very hot. In contrast, white has a reflectance value of almost 100% and keeps a substrate cool.
Below are some fashionable examples of Resene colours that would be ideal to use on Envira Timber Cladding as they have an LRV rating of 45 or more.
