Ashburton community fundraising project generates $180,000

Visit the new Braebrook subdivision in Ashburton to see the Jennian Homes House Build. The $180,000 profit from the sale of this home is going to the new EA Networks Centre, a fabulous new swimming and sports complex soon to be built in Ashburton.

The project would not have been successful without the huge contribution from many local businesses and trades, who donated materials and labour. Niagara is proud to support this worthy community project. A large proportion of the house was clad using our Envira Timber Cladding weatherboard system.

habitat project

House recipients visit their new home...

The Habitat for Humanity project has been completed, with the transformation of a red-zone house into a wonderful new home for a family in need.

Niagara is proud to provide the external cladding for this worthy cause. Our lightweight Envira weatherboard system was the perfect choice for building in Canterbury and is an approved TC3 cladding option. See the completed home at 4a Fuller Street, Kaiapoi, Canterbury.

Within minutes of meeting Jonathon, Roshni and their three children, Josh, Gloryah and Lukas, it is apparent this is a humble, hardworking family, well deserving of their new home. Selecting a family is a lengthy and well-considered part of the process, and one that requires the family to meet a number of requirements. Having overcome all of these, for Jonathon and Roshni the process has "been more than a dream come true,” they share. "It has been just amazing.”

Part of the agreement between the family and Habitat for Humanity, sees the family put in 500 hours of labour, or "sweat equity,” towards the building of their home, and Jonathon, Roshni and the kids have been getting stuck right in.

"While I have done some general home maintenance, I have never done anything like this before,” shares Jonathon, with a laugh."The resourcefulness of the family has been great,” said Peter. "They have been on site and involved the whole way through.”

With a steady number of people turning up to lend a helping hand, the home is rapidly taking shape. "The support has been immense,” comments Peter, "from corporate teams turning up and taking days to complete jobs we thought would take weeks, to local volunteers providing catering, it has been just wonderful.”

Volunteers make a difference...

Niagara staff were amongst the volunteers at a Saturday 'build day' in April.

Below are some of the snaps from the day installing the cladding that Niagara has gifted to the project.
