Looking to join our team? Here, you’ll find answers to common questions about our hiring process, application tips, interview expectations, and what it’s like to work with us. Whether you’re curious about roles, timelines, or company culture, this guide will help you navigate your journey from application to onboarding.
At Niagara, we place greater value on hiring people whose personal values align with ours than on prior experience. What we look for includes a positive attitude and strong work ethic, reliability and punctuality and a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
All full-time employees are guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours of work per week, with overtime as required. Start times vary depending on the shift and work centre. We will talk to you about what a normal working week for each role looks like during the interview stage, but for details on a particular role, please email Jemma Cournane at jemma.cournane@kgr.net.nz.
All employees must be at least 16 years old from their start date. Beyond this, we focus on values, attitude, work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn. Age does not influence our hiring decisions beyond the minimum requirement.
Yes! If you are applying for more than one role, please include a separate cover letter for each position, outlining why you are interested and why you would be a strong candidate.
Yes. Once the application period closes, all candidates will receive an update. You will either be contacted for an interview or notified if your application was unsuccessful. If you attend an interview, you will also be advised of the outcome.
Our interviews are informal and conversational; an opportunity for you to learn about us and for us to learn about you. You are welcome to bring a notebook or a list of questions on your phone.
We ask that you dress neatly in smart casual attire, including closed-toe shoes, as your interview may involve a walk-through of a work area.
Interview length varies depending on the role and can range from 20 to 60 minutes.
Come to the interview knowing why you want the role, what makes you a strong employee, and how you would contribute as a team member. Prepare any questions you have about the role or the company.
No, we only accept applications online. Our online application includes a short questionnaire that ensures all candidates are accurately tracked, allowing for a timely response and updates. It also gives you control over the roles you apply for.
We have a diverse team that values individual strengths and encourages support, collaboration, and respect for everyone. Safety, positivity, and teamwork are at the heart of what we do. We host a variety of events for employees and their families throughout the year, including a Christmas function, family nights at the rugby, social sports teams, and a children’s Christmas event where Santa brings gifts for all registered children.
Niagara has a very diverse workforce and we believe this makes us stronger as a company. We are proud to have our accreditation with Immigration NZ affording us the opportunity to have skilled migrants in our teams. There are some criteria and conditions around sponsorship, so it’s best to get in contact with us to check eligibility before applying.
If you have specific questions about working with Niagara, please contact Jemma Cournane at jemma.cournane@kgr.net.nz.
